Shake It Out

I’m pretty darn excited for the new Florence and The Machine album. I’m also pretty darn excited about the wealth of new remixes that tend to happen to her tracks. Here is the first one I like for ‘Shake It Out’ by none other than Benny Benassi. (Thanks Tre!)

In contrast here is the original (and also awesome) version of ‘Shake It Out’. Just waiting for that one to be the closing music on some episode of Gossip Girl or something (in a good way. not a judging you because you watch something on the CW)

Flume and Skinny Love

I went to the quietest and most beautiful concert of my life last week. You could hear when someone dropped a bottle across the amphitheater it was that quiet. I didn’t think it was possible but Bon Iver is even better live then his albums. In that first fifteen minutes of Up, emotionally manipulative but so beautiful kind of way. Here are the fantastic videos courtesy of the resident enigma.

ACL

So its been a month without posting and excuses could be tossed around using words like ‘traveling’ or ‘Austin’ or ‘Epic Non Digital Fun’. Instead I will just post two of my favorite performances from Austin City Limits. Which rocked. And involved the usual Purples, Trojan Helmets, and the need to go on vacation directly after the weekend. Also we went to both of these aftershows which were fantastical in very different ways

Blood

This song is awesome. It has been kicking around on my ‘Driving’ playlist for a while but without getting any serious love and I feel like its time we had the talk, where I tell The Middle East that I think they would be on the soundtrack of the next movie Zach Braff curates a playlist for. Also the video appeals to my sensibilities, so its got that going for it as well.

BBC Essentials

Jamie XX once again shows the world just how incredibly talented he is and how I will never be a DJ of his caliber when I grow up. Here is his mix for BBC1’s Essential Mix in all its two hours of nonstop gloriousness. Enjoy!

Fall Creek Boys Choir

The Laid Back slightly recovered Hipster Dream of a Bon Iver/James Blake Collaboration is here. We now live in a post-dubstep-breakup-and-write-music-in-a-remote-cabin world.

Last Friday Night

I have a not-so-secret soft spot for Katy Perry’s monster hits. But it might be eclipsed by the badassness of the Vaccines cover of ‘Last Friday Night’ they did for BBC1. Enjoy!

Donald Glover, Chloe Moretz, Ali Shawkat, Miranda Cosgrove, and Tyler Posey in a video directed by Drew Barrymore? Or specifically a gang made out of Childish Gambino, the awesome girl from Kickass, Maeby Funke, a Disney tween star, and MTV’s Teen Wolf. Sold. In other news here is the awesome new video for Best Coasts ‘Our Deal’. (Sorry couldn’t get it to embed)
