Palomino

Mates of State is another one of those bands that hits all the best traits  of a singing duo with upbeat catchy tunes. Their new album comes out September 13, and if Palomino is any indication, it’s going to be bubbly pop brilliance.

Alligator

Teagan and Sarah are like brussels sprouts to me. I really genuinely want to be a grown up and be into them, but I’m not a huge fan of the girl-centricness sound. But, keeping with my brussels sprout metaphor Continue reading

Keep You

This one is from Drew. It is a fantastical song and he needs to get all the credit. I may or may not have had it on a loop for the past four days.

Elizabeth Masters sounds like she would be the prom queen in a high school attended by Foster the People, Washed Out, and Passion Pit. You would be jealous but she is also kinda lovely. (At least this song is lovely) Enjoy!

Dance the Way I feel

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool would have had a brilliant and huge career with their brand of electro rock. They sounded like the progeny of Yeasayer and Neon Trees and hit that sweet spot of songs you dance to, but still make you feel forlorn. A year later, but you are still missed Charles Haddon.

Gypsy Blood

Jamie Lidell has collaborated on a track with Wilco’s Pat Sansone called ‘Gypsy Blood’.  Okay its more of a remix then a collaboration. Whatever. Its good. Enjoy. (and download it for free here)

Somebody That I Used To Know

Gotye’s new song and video from the much-anticipated (and as far as I can tell, long-delayed) follow-up album. If this is any indication, it’s going to be awesome.

Shark Subs and Beach Manatees

Gorillaz, and my favourite track off their Plastic Beach CD. Vid is, as per usual…..interesting.

The first minute of White Flag is also good and very reminiscent of Colouring of Pigeons by The Knife Mr. Simms and Planningtorock

For Awhile

Here is the new song by Mansions on the Moon following up the best mix-tape ever made. (and an Up Reference! What’s not to love?!) Called ‘For Awhile’,  the latest song is   free download in preview of their new album which it they keep being consistently brilliant, should quickly become a favorite for this year….

Every Teardrop (Robyn Cover)

Robyn covering the song with a ridiculous name but insanely catchy hook for BBC1 Live. It’s awesome how she can turn one of the most mainstream and recognizable artists into her own style.
