Saturdays=Youth might be my favorite album of all time. I don’t say this lightly. There are a lot of amazing albums that have been in consideration over the years but whenever we return to the question of ‘What album would you take to the desert island which weirdly, has a killer music system and continuous power to run said system, but no way to get off of it?’ I can’t help but think of this one.
Anytime a new M83 album comes out it goes into heavy rotation and becomes the soundtrack to a very specific time in my life. ‘Before The Dawn Heals Us’ is the background noise to my thesis and finishing my senior year at college. Saturdays=Youth was when I was finally finding my groove with my life in SF and starting to form some of the most amazing friendships with the people who lived in Fort Mason.
I’m not really sure what defines the time of ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ since its a little too current. But I’m sure it will involve some epic dancing. Which I will be doing at Mezzanine tonight at the M83 show incidentally.
