Savoir Adore has that perfect mix of uptempo rock and sweet sounding lyrics that is so appealing. Much like Stars, they feature a guy-girl singing duo that makes you want to sing along, Continue reading

Hipster Rock

My street smart cuz, Adam, turned me on to the new Cut Copy cd back in early February. I’ve been jamming out to them for about a month and a half now and I’m definitely impressed (yes I know I’m certainly behind the times). I feel like they’ve got a pretty interesting sound, lyrically akin to an indie version of U2 or perhaps Yeasayers with a beat produced by LCD Soundsystem. Continue reading

Dystopia

Yacht is one of those incredibly hip groups that took me a while to enjoy. While they are certainly one of the chosen, as part of DFA records Continue reading

Donald Glover is blowing up, and while I have yet to convince Dowks of his undeniable awesomeness, no one can deny his hipster credentials. In the vein of Chiddy Bang, Continue reading

Now that all that buzz has died down, I can go back to enjoying the folksy awesomeness of Mumford and Sons. With the grey weather we had last week in SF and in preparation for an upcoming UK adventure; Continue reading

Lawn Knives

Spring has reluctantly come to SF today. In honor of the sun’s return, I’ve been jamming to some happy muzak courtesy of Gobble Gobble. While I have yet to see them live, rumor has it they put on an intense show complete with dudes jumping around in tutus. Dowks got a taste of their dancey ways on his Thanksgiving mix, but the band didn’t make the top five cut sadly. Perhaps there is still time to convince him of their awesomeness. It also looks like they perform at house parties, which based on the expressions of the kids in the video below, would be pretty fantastic.

Worlds Collide in Seattle

The oh-so-hip roomie and I were chatting the other night about must attend concerts over the next couple weeks, and apparently April 11th presents several conflicts.  She mentioned a Danish group Oh Land, is playing at Chop Suey and wanted to know if I was gonna go.  I would have been all ’bout it but I’ll be busy watching the Naked & Famous with Carls, Ace and Leslietron, which I actually already considered bailing on because Ellie Goulding and the freaking Knocks will also be performing that night – dammit.

The Naked and Famous have made an appearance on our blog before, but I wanted to share some Oh Land, and of course Ellie Continue reading
